- 2 Stupid Dogs is an American cartoon series created by Donovan Cook, a CalArts graduate. Produced by the company Hanna-Barbera Cartoons (in 1994 merged with Turner Entertainment into Cartoon Network), it involves around two unnamed canines, entitled “Big Dog” and “Little Dog” respectively. The first series was shown on September 11, 1993. The series is distinguished by a style of animation, which at that time was mostly out of use: primitive, stingy movements of the characters with a general simplified style of the video series, characteristic of the early works of the Hanna-Barbera studio in the 1950s and 1960s. The series ran for 2 seasons and 13 episodes in each season. It originally aired on TBS’s “Sunday Morning in Front of the TV” block and also appears in syndication. The series gained 3 nominations including 1 Annie Award and 2 Daytime Emmy Awards, but lost to Rugrats on CN’s rival network, Nickelodeon (where John Kricfalusi also worked on Ren & Stimpy, because of rough inspiration).
